Eco-friendliness coming `into the mix` for car buyers
Drivers are increasingly taking environmental performance into consideration when purchasing a car, it has been claimed. While drivers might not go out and buy a car just to reduce their carbon emissions, environmental factors certainly play a part in new car sales, according to environmental expert John Buckley. The Carbon Footprint managing director suggested that fuel-efficient cars with lower carbon dioxide emissions were likely to be more appealing.`People are [not] necessarily out to change their cars at the moment just because they can get a slightly more efficient one,` he explained. He added that when the time comes to purchase a new vehicle, `it`s one of the considerations that goes into the mix.`A recent Auto Trader survey found that, while price is still the most important point for most (85 per cent) car buyers, 70 per cent would choose a more environmentally-friendly model over a standard car if its fuel economy was good.
